Social on Saturday evening
Heuriger:
traditionally, a place close to vineyards, where the winemakers were allowed, for a limited period of time in the year, to sell merely their own wine and homemade food. The name derives from “heuer” (this year) and refers to the young wine, i.e., wine after November 11th. Heuriger is not a protected name and is nowadays broadly used for places with wine and traditional food.
10er Marie
Symposium dinner will be at Heuriger "10er Marie", the oldest Viennese heuriger.
You can reach it by public transportation:
use Metro line U3 from Schlachthausgasse (closest to UBB) in direction Ottakring. Exit at last station (Ottakring), from there it is 5 min walk to 10er Marie.
